KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD - PEOPLE VULTURES

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard are a band on the rise in the UK at the moment following in the footsteps of their Australian Psych Rock brothers in arms Tame Impala. They are currently on the brink of releasing new album ‘Nonagon Infinity’ which is due on April 29th 2016 expect elements of Garage, Surf and Psychedelic Rock delivered in erratic and brain rattling fashion. They released a teaser back in March in the form of Lead Single Gamma Knife. Equipped with a quirky music video involving what seems to be a mass ritual performed by rainbow coloured monks which helps to convey the free flowing alternation between dark and playful notions of the coming album. The album seems to be luring their sound back into eerie, rather creepy territory we are used to hearing with dark rock bands like Sabbath and more recently The Wytches. It’s an extremely complex composition in reality; they seem to mould together hints of so many styles seamlessly with the most prominent on the new album so far appearing to be some sort of spazzed-out Garage Rock. They have blessed us with yet another teaser last week (5th April) when they released another track from the forthcoming album ‘People Vultures’ another that fits the style of Lead Single Gamma Knife. We can hear these songs both sound very similar with People Vultures arguably being the more aggressive and rapid of the two. These two sit next to each other on the album which explains their similarity. The songs will flow into eachother in an endless loop which adds to that mesmerizing trippy feel they strive to achieve. People Vultures has a distinct feel about it, like you are floating in Purgatory fretfully awaiting your final judgement, will you be going to heaven or the fiery depths of hell itself. We would suggest you brace yourself for the latter as the 5 minute seizure of a song shows no signs of letting up at any point through its cycle. You can check it for yourselves below and let us know what you think in the comments.

As for the album title ‘Nonagon Infinity’ wasn't just plucked out of the sky to adhere with its psychedelic tendencies, no, this name has relevance. The Nonagon part, for those of you who aren't geometry wizards, represents the nine songs on the track listing which you can see here:

Tracklist:

01 - Robot Stop 02 - Big Fig Wasp 03 - Gamma Knife 04 - People-Vultures 05 - Mr. Beat 06 - Evil Death Roll 07 - Invisible Face 08 - Wah Wah 09 - Road Train

As for the ‘Infinity’ this refers to the free-flowing nature of the album as each song rolls into the next in a continuous cycle. Anyway if you are new to King Gizzard make sure you check out some of their discography in the lead up to the new album release we will have their 2014 EP ‘I’m In Your Mind Fuzz’ available on Vinyl from our Store in a few weeks so keep an eye out for that. They are currently on a full US Tour but will be back for summer festivals and are playing at the O2 Ritz, Manchester in September with The Wytches so check that out if you want and enjoy People Vultures below.
