HIMALAYAS RELEASE DARK VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "THANK GOD I'M NOT YOU"

Himalayas, a name that’s shared with the lofty heights of snow-capped mountain peaks and magnificently picturesque natural beauty; one may wonder how on earth it’d be even remotely possible to live up to responsibility of name sharing with such a powerful and gargantuan entity. Four lads from Cardiff bravely took on this heavy burden and have, without a shadow of doubt, done it the justice it deserves. We’re looking at a band that’ve nailed their ‘sound’ it’s a delightful mix of BOLD rhythm and sharp/fizzy lead riffs on a bed of tumbling drums and bass. Everything about them is slick, they deliver this infusion of indie garage rock with a degree of professionalism that one would expect from the most seasoned of bands but seldom expect from the new kids on the block.

Their NEW release “Thank God I’m Not You” roars in with a Jack White-esque squealing riff that immediately makes you jolt like you’ve just been shafted up the back passage by a fucking huge stiletto heel. It’s unexpected but invites you into the party in such a jagged, unhinged manner that you spend the rest of the night looking over your shoulder waiting for it to sneak back up on you like a school playground happy slap. Of course it does, and you’ve been ‘shafted’ all over again! This riff gets developed as the song progresses evolving into this untamed beast much like a timid little Squirtle reaching its full potential as a beefy Blastoise. It’s the same old turtle but this one’s backed with big fucking water bazookas and enough strength to crumble the Rocks testosterone into a flat packed Ikea box. Vocally and lyrically it’s watertight with faint touches of a ‘Like Clockwork..’ Josh Homme swagger flowing so robustly and elegantly into the track like it’s effortless.
These boys clearly like to dip their toes in the ‘darker’ side of the rock and roll world which comes through in the production of this latest music video. We see them thrashing around, in what looks like, an old abandoned squatters warehouse pranging out at the sight of haunted souls and tied up damsels. As we reach the bridge section the band enter full pagan ritual mode getting their mouths taped over by people in fucked up masks. The 22 hour long shooting took place at the derelict St Luke’s Church in the Welsh town of Abercarn. The production ran long into the dark evening sky and their generator almost cut out in the middle of the night. I mean if that were us we’d be outta their quicker than the Sun newspaper printing heinous propaganda trash on its front pages! The band explain, “The concept of the video is a sense of torture, not only from other people but from your own self; the idea that you and many others criticise every last detail of your person.”
Himalayas have done pretty well for themselves so far in 2017 with countless rowdy gigs and some radio airtime, expect to see a lot more of these lads over the coming months/years for sure!
