THE BLINDERS RELEASE ANTHEMIC NEW SINGLE "BRAVE NEW WORLD"

The Blinders return with NEW single “Brave New World” to follow their colossal debut “Swine”. It’s the 4th of July or how we like to say in the UK ‘just another shitty Tuesday’ but over the pond in the land of dreams this is a day of incredible significance and grandiose history. ‘Independence Day’…….. has now managed to become an ironic metaphor to the, self-implicated and damning trajectory of a, once, ‘great nation’.

This bold new track was released today for a reason. It has purpose, drive, integrity. Why not question the intentions of our world leaders? Why not discuss the social, political and economic state the western world has been massaged into. We live in a ‘free world’ after all, one where we have the power to elect, speak and decide yet still manage to re-shackle ourselves into a climate of corruption, greed and ignorance. “Brave New World” is elusive to the naked eye but provokes thought into the means by which we have decided to be governed. We’re a ‘brave’ world for sure, well brave or just stupid?

There’s no doubt that The Blinders are one of the most exciting bands making a name for themselves in the UK at the moment. We’ve not shied away from professing our love on many occasions. Their raw but calming aggression is addictive, layers of psychedelic twang on gritty, dark personality has become a trademark time bomb and could explode into shire greatness at a moment’s notice. “Brave New World” see’s the Doncaster lads come of age; stepping up into the shoes that they’ve been coined for. It’s an anthem no doubt, with buckets of punky drive and angsty tenacity but what separates The Blinders from the rest of the pack is their ability to engage with listeners. From the chuggy bass and punchy drumlines, to the guitars rhythmic flow and bluesy swagger this song resonates long after you’ve stopped listening. It makes its way around your body latching onto your vital organs and corrupting the host like the symbiote suit from those old Spiderman cartoons. (if you know you know).

What stands out though is lyrical intent. Purposeful verses “Watch them build it / from the floor, Watch them take it / from the poor, Watch them change / a dozen laws And watch them snatch it / from us all”. Catchy chorus “Oh to be, from the land of the free”. It’s watertight, innovative and meaningful; spoken as if from the lips of a man who’d wandered the world for many centuries. Can you tell we’re impressed? I personally would probably even stretch as far as to say this is my favourite release so far this year. Fucking incredible, it’s been on repeat all night. The only question left is ‘when’s there going to be an EP/ album release that we can all get our grubby mits on?’ I’m craving it!!

The video itself is full of iconic footage from Kennedy's assassination to the more current clip of Theresa May laughing her head off in the House of Commons...... minus the fish swallowing.

The dystopian anthem of the Idiot King rises to the surface of the murk-filled-mire. Take the song for what it is; an ugly, brown portrayal of the modern day 'free world', and the inevitable 'helter skelter' we would face, so long as things continued this way. "You won't find us in it, because we feel like we don't need to be. The film focuses on the cult leaders of mindless nations, mass slaughter and exploitation, and the desolation of the world... not the mental self-fornication of three boys in a band." (The Blinders)

The Blinders are forever touring, on the road networking with every tom, dick and harry they meet so get out and see them live at any of the below dates. You’re guaranteed to be blown away!
