INTERVIEW WITH KEROSCENE

We recently got the chance to catch up and interview Keroscene, a band fast making a name for themselves in the world of rock. It's important for fans and followers to know who's behind the music they love so we decided to fire some questions their way. Check out what Jake, Edd, Dave and Franco had to say for themselves below:
Don't miss our review of their NEW track 'Like The First Time' HERE.
Q - Who would you say most influences your music?
Franco: A bunch of things really, we listen to a lot of bands and we always try to learn new riffs that can develop into a song, a great line from a movie that we sample and play around with, a book that becomes part of our lyrics or a photo that creates a mood and sets the tone for a new jam. We feel that’s the natural process of creating some sort of art, where everything that leaves a mark on you then becomes part of your work.
Q - How did you guys all meet?
Jake: We all played in various bands in London. Francesco and Dave met each other and started making music together in 2011. Dave and Franco used to write and demo songs in Dave’s flat. I joined the band once we started playing live shows and Edd joined us a few years after that once we became Keroscene.
Q - Do you have an EP/ Debut album in the pipeline for 2017?
Dave: We have plenty of ideas that we're currently working on so you can expect the beginnings of an album at some point in the next 12 months.
Q- The cinematography in the music video for ‘Like The First Time’ is epic, what inspired it?
Franco: We’ve always wanted to create a video made from some stock footage and heavily edit it, to create some sort of visual experience, like a journey into the song rather than just a story or a performance video. So we decided to try and make the video totally by ourselves without having to compromise. This gave us the opportunity to experiment more in term of visuals and we are very happy that you guys loved the cinematography of it!
Q- Who are your favourite breakthrough bands at the moment?
Edd: The Big Moon are great, they have brilliant songs and a cool sound. Me and Jake went to see The Wytches while we were recording in Leeds and they were really intense. Also go see The New Tusk and Cruelty because they’re both lovely bands. Japandroids are putting out new music as well at the moment which is super cool.
Q - How does ‘Like The First Time’ and forthcoming tracks vary from work you’ve done previously?
Jake: The tracks we’ve put out previously have been quite a mix of 90’s shoegaze / Psychedelic Rock along with the more dub electronic track Just Like Zero. At this stage we’re still enjoying the process of experimenting with our sound but where Like The First Time is more on the side of 90’s Rock the forthcoming tracks with Matt will follow in a similar direction.
Q - Tell us a bit about your collaboration with Matt Peel and how that came about?
Dave: We’d known about Matt Peel for some time as we were fans of his previous work with bands like Eagulls and Pulled Apart By Horses. We met up and played some demos to him and everything went from there really. He had some good ideas that he wanted to bring to the recordings so we jumped into his studio at the back end of last year and spent a week sleeping at the studio and making music together. It was an awesome experience and he brought something extra that you want from a producer.
Q - Growing up, what festivals did you guys go to and which festival would you most like to headline one day?
Jake: A few of us have been to Glastonbury on a number of occasions and it’s by far the best Festival we’ve been to, the atmosphere and the place is just incredible there’s nothing like it. We’ve discovered some of our favourite bands there and to headline such a place has been a dream for some time. Secret Garden Party is another place we love and we’d love to play there some day. Considering our sound is a little more alternative we would suit a festival like Reading. None of have been before but from what we’ve seen the crowd always looks lively.
Q - There’s always a sensible one, so who wears the trousers in this band?
Franco: To be honest I think we all share different responsibilities so in a way we all wear the trousers in the band. For instance David is usually the main songwriter and also looking after the management side of the project, Edd is the one booking us gigs and doing all the recordings, Jake is always organising rehearsals and making sure the live set is spot on and I am the one doing the artwork/visuals.
Q - And finally, what’s the most embarrassing song on your Spotify/ iTunes library’s?
David: Butterfly - Crazy Town
Edd: Would I Lie To You? by Charles & Eddie
Francesco: Cheeky Girls - We Are The Cheeky Girls
Jake: Phil Collins – Another Day In Paradise
