TOOTH AND NAIL RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE "CRYIN' FOR YOU"

ENTER…… Tooth & Nail a two piece grungey blues soul band that gently incorporate fuzzy drive with melancholy and expressive flow. Their debut single “Cryin’ For You” see’s the band ease their way into the world with delightful rock and roll guitar hooks on a bed of fuzzy power riffs and tidy drumming. Much akin to the typical bluesy style lead guitarist and vocalist Daniel Pearson veers away from the songs auto pilot drift and into some aggressive blues licks creating an emotive atmosphere. These licks have an essence of Jack White about them not as sporadic and jolty as the White Stripes frontman but dare we suggest a digitech whammy pedal or some sort of octave shifter guitar pedal is being used here? It’s soulful throughout until we reach the final minute when this adolescent track drops its balls and becomes a bold, all-knowing, all-being manly figure. We go from the vocal spectrum of The Black Keys into this mid 70’s Black Sabbath early metal riffing and slow slogging drum fill section that would make any rock and roll/ blues fan wanna drop whatever they’re holding, take stance and slog out the slowest head bang in their arsenal.

The band were formed in 2016 when Daniel teamed up with metal drummer Mike Neilson. “Cryin For You” is the first of three 2017 releases with the next in May and third coming in October. We assume a debut EP will follow either sometime early next year or towards the end of the current. When asked about the meaning behind the debut track Pearson says that “It’s one of life’s truths that love hurts, and that’s what Cryin’ For You is all about. I love a lot of old blues & soul records when you can really hear the pain and experience in the voices, and that’s what we were aiming for here - as well as laying down some big riffs and grungy fuzz. That’s pretty much the mission statement of Tooth & Nail - soul songs played loud and heavy.” Anyone that’s a fan of this style should sure give them a follow on social media @toothandnailuk and keep in the loop with their upcoming releases and tour dates.
