FIZZY BLOOD RELEASE VHS INSPIRED INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "PAWN"

Leeds five piece Fizzy Blood have unveiled a NEW music video for single “PAWN”. Shot in the style of an old fashioned VHS it takes the piss out of those god awful instructional videos that littered the 80’s. It starts with a Nintendo 64-esque intro that looks like a cross between a cheesy American vice cop drama and Noel Fieldings Fantasy Man sketch. The agenda is clear ‘let’s rip the shit out of those crappy manufactured boy bands’. You know, like The Vamps and those other bloody twats that end up on Keith Lemon’s Celebrity Juice chatting shit about playing instruments and writing music. We see straight through your adolescent bullshit! The strings on that guitar haven’t even been touched. Pop it back on the stand and leave it to the big boys. You’re due back in the studio to button bash out some more hits from Simon Cowell’s crusty bellend……. run along now. The video does a great job of underlining the very stereotypical nature of the pop music industry from the eyes of fictional music mogul Brandon Worsch. He takes you through the steps of creating a ‘successful’ boy band.

Guitarist Paul Howell’s explains “The video for ‘Pawn’ shot on VHS and was made to emulate the style of those horrible 80’s PSA videos. I like the way that kind of corny, un-self-aware, salesmen like attitude parodies the attitudes within the mainstream music industry even today and hopefully that comes across when people watch it. It was shot within a day in an art studio in Leeds and a lot of our mates came down, dressed up and got involved in the making of the video so we had a lot of fun making it.”.

PAWN has already been shaking up a storm with air time on Huw Stephen’s BBC Radio 1 show and more recently being named as Kerrang! Radio’s ‘Track of The Week’. It’s a sharp injection of cold blooded thrash rock, delivered in light hearted and comical fashion. A lot of fuzzy, unhinged, guitar riffs dragged along with dooming drums and aggressively plucky bass it sounds like a thick, sticky bowl of custard bubbling on a hot stove. Despite being predominantly heavy and, as previously stated, “thrashy” there’s a slight hint on indie punk thrown into their melting pot, especially in snippets of the vocal sections with the “la, la, la’s”. We then reach the end of the track where the lads throw us into a pit of savage half speed breakdown reducing all those who listen to their weak; boney knees. Go with it, just drop to the floor and pull out your loosest, neck breaking head bang.

Fizzy Blood landed back in 2015 with their debut EP “FEAST” spurring them into several supporting slots with the likes of Allusondrugs, The Virginmarys, Max Raptor and The Dead Kennedys. In 2017 the band made their second appearance at SXSW before embarking on a huge tour with While She Sleeps. This is set to be a huge year for them, they aren’t planning to sit back and take it easy with a number of UK dates in sunny festival fields, and a slot in our capital for the notorious Camden Rocks. If you’re heading to any of the below dates be sure to go check them out and show your support. They’re currently in the process of putting the final touches on their next release so keep your eyes peeled for that at some point later this year!
